STEP 01
Choose the correct activation method
Option B — Microsoft account
If Office is already linked to an account, sign in at Services & subscriptions. Do not try to redeem the product again.
Use the same Microsoft account throughout redemption, installation and activation. Keep its sign-in details secure.

Redeem a new Office product key

Go to setup.office.com.

Sign in with the Microsoft account you want to associate with Office.

Enter the 25-character product key exactly as provided.

Select your country or region and language if requested.

Confirm the product and continue to add it to your account.

STEP 03
Download and install Microsoft Office

Open Services & subscriptions and sign in.

Find the Office product associated with your account and select Install.

On Windows, run the downloaded installer and approve the system prompt.

On Mac, open the downloaded .pkg file and follow the installer.

Wait for installation to complete, then open Word or Excel.

Sign in and verify Office activation

Open Word, Excel or another Office application.

Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the product.

Accept the license agreement if it appears.

On Windows, open File → Account. On Mac, open the application menu and check the license or account information.

Confirm that you signed in with the correct Microsoft account, update Office and restart the application.
“Product key already used” appears

The wrong Office edition is installed
Uninstall the incorrect edition, then download the edition shown in your Microsoft account or order instructions.
The device limit has been reached
The allowed number of devices depends on the purchased product. Sign out of an old installation if your license permits it.
