The key does not match the installed edition
Open Settings → System → About and confirm that Windows 10 Pro—not Home—is installed.

Make sure you have the following before entering your product key:

Internet connectionYour computer should be connected during online activation.

Administrator accessUse an account that can change Windows settings.
Important: A Windows 10 Pro key is intended for Windows 10 Pro. It will not activate Windows 10 Home.

Check your Windows edition

Open the Start menu and select Settings.

Go to System, then open About.

Under Windows specifications, confirm that the edition says Windows 10 Pro.

Enter the Windows 10 Pro product key

Open Settings from the Start menu.

Select Update & Security → Activation.

Next to Change product key, select Change.

Enter your 25-character product key exactly as provided.

Select Next, then choose Activate.

For your security, do not share your product key publicly or send it to anyone outside the support process for your order.

STEP 03
Verify that Windows is activated
Return to Settings → Update & Security → Activation. A successful activation should display an activated status.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Common activation problems
The product key was entered incorrectly
Copy the key carefully and check similar characters such as B/8, G/6 and 0/O.
Windows cannot reach the activation service
Check your internet connection, restart the device and try the Activation page again.
Activation still does not complete
Take a screenshot of the full error message and contact WDKey with your order number.
